August 22, 2007

Here are tips on how to relieve stress. Stress can eventually wear out your body and mind if it is not controlled. Stress can lead to physical harm to the body; such as heart attacks, weight gain, and depression.

Here are 7 tips on how to relieve stress:

1. Breathing: Take a couple of deep breathes. Release some of the stress as you exhale out.

2. Exercise: Go for a 10 minute walk when you start feeling the stress. Regular exercise (3-5 times a week) will help release the stress and tension in the body. Join a gym, take up yoga, or participate in a sport.

3. Avoid smoking: Smoking can contribute to stress. Many people smoke to relieve some of the stress, but it’s only a short, temporary relief. Once the relief wears off, you can feel worse and your mood will only be restored by smoking again.

4. Healthy Eating: Eating healthy can give you more energy and help you lose weight. Try to avoid snacking on junk foods.

5. Plenty of Sleep: Getting enough sleep is very important. You need to give your body at least 8 hours of sleep.

6. Share your stress: Sometimes it helps to release some of the stress by talking to a friend or family about your problems.

7. Positive Mental Attitude: It is important to try to maintain a positive attitude. People who have battled with an illness have lessened the recovery time with a positive attitude. Surround yourself with positive people.
